Why do people feel the need to add a zillion exclamation points or question marks? I will admit that I've been guilty of using the !? when really excited and on occasion I have even used two exclamation points for something that seems really exciting when texting or e-mailing with a friend but what's with holding down the button during work e-mails?
Is it just me or do you feel like someone is angry with you when you get a message asking a question with two or more question marks??? It seems like an angry question to me. Or maybe the person has arthritis and they couldn't make their pinkie finger stop??? Or maybe they didn't pay attention in class and missed the whole single punctuation mark lesson??? OR MAYBE THEY ARE JUST STUPID!!!!!!!!!!! (are you enjoying the overuse????)
It bothers me. I just got an e-mail that was work related and I counted how many exclamation points there were...there were 11!!!!!!! A client asked for a phone number. I gave it to her. She replied back with this message:
invalid # I have dialed several times!!!!!!!!!!!
Was that really worth all of the exclamation points? I've got to tell you folks, in case you don't know me, if you push me it makes me dig in my heels. When I get a message like that I feel the need to tell you to try google and all the while I'm typing I am giving you a mental middle finger. Seriously folks, please lay off the exclamation points! We get it if it's a question it only takes one and if you're excited...I'll give you two but past that you're official annoying and/or stupid.
Thanks and have a great day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
